Fully funded four-year or two-year Doctoral Researcher positions are open to candidates interested in any of the three strategic themes of the Biomedical Sciences and Engineering at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology, Tampere University. Selection is based on the potential, motivation and competence of the applicants. We are open to your own ideas as well, that are supplementing each of the research themes.

The successful candidate needs to have a Master's degree completed by 31 December 2019. Candidates must be eligible for studies leading to a scientific or artistic doctoral degree as set forth in the Finnish Universities Act (558/2009 37§).

Candidates must have demonstrated the competence and motivation to pursue doctoral studies in the field and complete a doctorate. Selected candidates will be enrolled to the Doctoral Programme of the Biomedical Sciences and Engineering.

International applicants must attach an official English language test report as a proof of sufficient English language skills or to be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language in other ways. 

A research plan for a doctorate will be prepared in collaboration with the research group at the beginning of doctoral studies. The candidates are expected to conduct research under the supervision of a superior/permanent member of the research group.

We are offering the successful candidates fully funded four-year or fully funded two-year positions as Doctoral Researchers commencing January 2020. The salary will be based both on the job demands and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. According to the criteria applied to teaching and research staff, the position of a Doctoral Researcher is placed on the job demand levels 2-4. In addition, employees receive performance-based salary. The typical starting salary for Doctoral Researchers on the University's payroll is approximately €2,440 per month. Trial period of six months applies for all new employees.
