The Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences invites applications for fixed-term doctoral researcher positions in the field of communication sciences.  The fixed-term doctoral researcher positions are intended primarily for completing postgraduate studies and bringing the dissertation work to the preliminary review stage during 2024, secondarily for promoting the unfinished dissertation work.

Positions can be applied for by doctoral researchers of the Doctoral Program in Media and Communication Sciences and Performing Arts (DPMCP), as well as doctoral researchers belonging to the DPII or DPHAT doctoral programs whose main subject is information research.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for doctoral researchers who are motivated to complete their dissertation research for fixed-term employment in the Communication Sciences Unit. You cannot apply for a position primarily intended to completion of your work if you have already received one before.

The positions of doctoral researchers will be filled temporarily for the year 2024. The duration of the contract (3-6 months) is determined by the stage of the work and the estimated completion date. The application has to include a detailed plan for finishing the work, which has been drawn up with the work supervisors, including schedules, as well as the supervisors' statements and commitments to the supervision.

REQUIREMENTS

An eligible applicant must have the right to study in the DPMCP doctoral program, or in case of doctoral students in Information Studies, the right to study in the DPII or DPHAT doctoral programs.

When processing applications, we evaluate the following factors:

•  realism, detail and concreteness of the finishing plan

• feasibility of the plan within schedules

• supervisors' statements about the stage of the work and commitment to completing the work

• transcript of records and information about the completion plan for other studies included in the doctoral degree

• previously received funding

The application period for fixed-term dissertation researcher positions is 8 April - 8 May 2024, the application ends on 8 May 2023 at 23:59.

Please attach the following documents in PDF format: 

•    Curriculum Vitae prepared according to the guidelines issued by the Finnish Advisory Board on Research Integrity (TENK) 

•     A summary of the research plan, which shows the goals of the work and research questions, as well as the expected results

•     A concrete plan to complete the work, which has been drawn up with the supervisors (e.g. a table including the stages of the work to be done, supervision meetings, possible completion of other studies, expected date of completion). The plan is drawn up for the period for which funding is needed and it includes information on previously received funding and their dates

•    Table of publications or chapters/part studies included in the dissertation, if it is a monograph

•    List of courses included in the degree

•    Supervisors' statements, which show the supervisors recommendations and commitment to completing the work

Informaatioteknologian ja viestinnän tiedekunnan Viestintätieteiden yksikössä on haettavana määräaikaisia väitöskirjatutkijan tehtäviä. Määräaikaiset väitöskirjatutkijan tehtävät on tarkoitettu ensisijaisesti jatko-opintojen viimeistelyyn ja väitöskirjatyön saattamiseen esitarkastusvaiheeseen vuoden 2024 aikana, toissijaisesti keskeneräisen väitöskirjatyön edistämiseen. 

Tehtäviä voivat hakea Media- ja viestintätieteiden ja esittävien taiteiden tohtoriohjelman (DPMCP) väitöskirjatutkijat, sekä DPII- tai DPHAT-tohtoriohjelmiin kuuluvat väitöskirjatutkijat, joiden pääaine on informaatiotutkimus.

TEHTÄVÄNKUVAUS

Etsimme väitöskirjatutkimuksen loppuunsaattamiseen motivoituneita väitöskirjatutkijoita Viestintätieteiden yksikön määräaikaisiin työsuhteisiin. Ensisijaisesti työn viimeistelyyn tarkoitettua tehtävää ei voi hakea, jos on jo aiemmin sellaisen saanut.

Väitöskirjatutkijan tehtävät täytetään määräaikaisesti vuodelle 2024. Sopimuksen kesto (3-6 kk) määräytyy työn vaiheen ja arvioidun valmistumispäivän mukaan. Hakemukseen liitetään työn ohjaajien kanssa laadittava yksityiskohtainen viimeistelysuunnitelma aikatauluineen sekä ohjaajien lausunnot ohjaukseen sitoutumisineen. 

EDELLYTYKSET

Valittavalla hakijalla tulee olla opinto-oikeus DPMCP-tohtoriohjelmassa tai informaatiotutkimuksen väitöskirjatutkijoilla opinto-oikeus DPII- tai DPHAT-tohtoriohjelmissa.

Hakemuksia käsiteltäessä arvioimme seuraavia tekijöitä: 

•    viimeistelysuunnitelman realistisuus, yksityiskohtaisuus ja konkreettisuus 

•    suunnitelman toteutettavuus aikatauluineen

•    ohjaajien lausunnot työn vaiheesta ja sitoutuneisuudesta työn edistämiseen

•    opintorekisteriote ja tieto tohtorintutkintoon kuuluvien muiden opintojen suorittamissuunnitelmasta

•    aiemmin saatu rahoitus

Hakuaika määräaikaisiin väitöskirjatutkijan tehtäviin on 8.4.- 8.5 .2024, haku päättyy 8.5.2024 klo 23.59. 

HAKUOHJEET 

Jätäthän hakemuksesi väitöskirjatutkijan tehtävään yliopiston sähköisellä hakulomakkeella (linkki ilmoituksen alta). Hakuaika päättyy 8.5.2024 klo 23:59. Myöhässä saapuneita hakemuksia ei oteta huomioon. 

Hakemuksen tulee sisältää seuraavat liitteet pdf-muodossa:  

•    Ansioluettelo, joka on laadittu TENK:n mallin mukaisesti

•    Tutkimussuunnitelman tiivistelmä, josta käy ilmi työn tavoitteet ja tutkimuskysymykset sekä odotettavissa olevat tulokset

•    Ohjaajien kanssa laadittava mahdollisimman konkreettinen suunnitelma työn loppuunsaattamiseksi (esim. taulukko sisältäen tehtävän työn vaiheet, ohjaustapaamiset, muiden opintojen mahdollisen täydentäminen, odotettu valmistumisajankohta). Suunnitelma laaditaan sille ajanjaksolle, jolle rahoitusta tarvitaan ja siihen liitetään tiedot aiemmin saaduista rahoituksista ja niiden ajankohdista 

•    Taulukko väitöskirjaan sisältyvistä julkaisuista tai luvuista/osatutkimuksista, jos kyseessä monografia 

•    Listaus tutkintoon sisältyvistä opintojaksoista 

•    Ohjaajien lausunnot, joista käy ilmi ohjaajien puollot ja sitoutuminen työn loppuun saattamiseen
