The Electrical Engineering Unit of the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences at Tampere University is looking for University Instructor in Electrical Engineering with specialization to Electronics. The position is filled for fixed term until December 31, 2028
The Electrical Engineering Unit of the faculty is a hub of expertise with roughly 200 faculty and staff members, of which 14 professors and 7 tenure track professors. We confer about 100 master’s degrees and 10-15 doctoral degrees on an annual basis. Our teaching and research activities are based on a profound understanding of electrical and electromagnetic phenomena and their modelling and applications. We work in close collaboration with several industrial partners and maintain an active presence in the international scientific community. We also offer an excellent research infrastructure with state-of-the-art laboratories.

Job description
The selected person will be expected to plan, prepare, organize and execute teaching. You will work in an international environment where development of teaching methods is highly appreciated. We have modern teaching and research facilities, and we encourage employees to actively seek professional growth, for example, by attending pedagogical training courses available at the University. Although the position is teaching oriented, the position includes pursuing independent research, participation in research projects and funding acquisition.
The field of teaching is electrical engineering, focusing in particular to basics of electronic circuits and systems, basics of RF engineering, and student tutoring. The field of research focuses on electronic components, piezo- and triboelectric sensors, and related energy harvesting circuits fabricated by printed electronics and thin-film deposition technologies. We are seeking for an applicant who has strong theoretical knowledge in the related fields, experience in applying theories, laboratory experience, and high motivation for teaching in the field. The job requires good collaboration and team-working skills and good English language skills.
Requirements
For the University Instructor position, we require:

We appreciate teaching or research experience in some of the following topics:
basics of circuit theory, electronics circuits, and systems
basics of RF engineering
electronics simulation tools and measurement technologies and practical laboratory experience
electronics materials and fabrication technologies (in particular printed electronics and thin-film deposition technologies)
applications in thin-film sensors and energy harvesting components (in particular piezo- and triboelectric systems)
In addition, we appreciate:
interest and readiness for student-centered learning and teacher tutoring
interest and readiness for continuous development of the curriculum and teaching practices in the field
studies in university pedagogy or equivalent skills
interest in participation to research and acquirement of research funding
demonstration of independent research in the field of thin-film piezoelectric sensors and energy-harvesting components and circuits.

The position will be filled for a fixed-term period starting in August 2024 until December 31, 2028. Appointments will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a trial period of 6 months.
The salary is based on job demands and employees’ personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. The starting salary of University Instructor is on levels 5-6. In addition, employees receive performance-based salary. A typical starting salary for the University Instructor is around €3,500 - €3,900 / month. A higher salary may be agreed upon based on the successful candidate’s experience and/or performance.

Haemme elektroniikan yliopisto-opettajaa määräaikaiseen työsuhteeseen 31.12.2028 asti.
Tehtävä sijoittuu Informaatioteknologian ja viestinnän tiedekunnan Sähkötekniikan yksikköön, joka on noin 200 työntekijän, 14 professorin ja 7 tenure track –professorin asiantuntijakeskittymä. Tutkinto-ohjelmista valmistuu vuosittain noin 100 diplomi-insinööriä ja 10–15 tekniikan tohtoria. Opetuksemme ja tutkimuksemme pohjautuvat syvälliseen ymmärrykseen sähköisistä ja sähkömagneettisista ilmiöistä ja niiden mallintamisesta ja sovelluksista. Teemme laajasti yhteistyötä erilaisten teollisten toimijoiden kanssa ja olemme aktiivisesti läsnä kansainvälisessä tiedeyhteisössä. Yksikkö tarjoaa myös erinomaisen tutkimusinfrastruktuurin, mm. hyvin varustellut laboratoriot.

Tehtävänkuvaus ja edellytykset
Tehtävään valittavalta henkilöltä odotetaan opetuksen suunnittelua, valmistelua, organisointia ja toteuttamista. Tulet työskentelemään kansainvälisessä ympäristössä, missä opetusmetodien kehittämistä pidetään suuressa arvossa. Hakijaa rohkaistaan osallistumaan aktiivisesti yliopiston tarjoamiin pedagogisiin opintoihin. Vaikka työtehtävä on opetuspainotteinen, tehtävä sisältää itsenäisiä tutkimustehtäviä, osallistumista tutkimushankkeisiin ja rahoitushakuihin. Tarjoamme
Tehtävä täytetään määräajaksi, 31.12.2028 saakka. Aloitus elokuun 2024 aikana. Tehtävässä sovelletaan työsopimuslain mukaista kuuden kuukauden koeaikaa.
Tehtävän palkkaus määräytyy yliopistojen opetus- ja tutkimushenkilöstön palkkausjärjestelmän mukaisesti. Tehtävän palkan alustava vaativuustaso on 5–6. Lisäksi maksetaan henkilökohtaiseen työstä suoriutumiseen perustuvaa palkanosaa. Tyypillisesti yliopisto-opettajan aloituspalkka noin 3500 – 3900 €/kk. Tarkka palkka on neuvoteltavissa yksilöllisesti ja voi myös kokemus- ja osaamisperustaisesti olla edellä mainittuja alkupalkkoja korkeampi.
